Traveling to Portland, Maine? It’s a great hipster town full of antiques, arts, beer, restaurants and shopping. By no means am I an expert on Portland but if you like eating and drinking beer you may benefit from some of the places below that were all recommending by locals in the area.
Duckfat – Local owned restaurant with classic Belgium fries made with duckfat made into a great Poutine. Plus they are the kings of making coleslaw of all different kinds. They also make a delicious pork prosciutto which we heard is made at the owners 40 acre farm.
Otto Pizza – Great thin crust pizza available at multiple locations across town, pick up a slice or utilize their free delivery. We had the 4 cheese with peperoni and it was better then any pizza from our home town.
Standard Baking Co. – Well this place is something else, if you like baked goods you are in for a real treat. Especially the CinnaBuns aka Sticky Buns! This place was recommend by a coffee shop owner near High St and it was differently worth the walk. I’m not really into danishes or donuts but I do love CinnaBuns and this place makes it with a croissant, cinnamon, sugar and butter. Try it you won’t be disappointed. Google Map Location
Novare Res Bier Cafe – Crazy amounts of beer with great staff, a bit hard to find but click here and you’ll get specific directions. It’s easy to try multiple beers here by ordering a half pint or requesting a taster.
Rising Tide Brewing – Local brewery with a great environment and usually a food truck out in front if you are looking for a snack after a tour. Next door is also a neat place if you like liquor called Maine Craft Distilling.
Bunker Brewing Co. – If you like beer this place is a must. Call before as you might have to order a Growler because they sell out. You can also hangout and have a flight of 3 beers for $3.
